You're sitting at an intersection, en route to the bank to make a deposit. The moneybag is in the passenger-side seat because you're alone in your car. Suddenly, someone smashes the passenger-side window, reaches in and grabs what he or she sees in the seat. There goes the moneybag! Law enforcement officials say these 'smash-and-grab' robbers also steal cell phones and other valuables.
The best advice is to keep all valuables out of view and follow your instincts if a stranger approaches the car. Drivers should keep a watchful eye when they're at a stoplight or stop sign. Stay calm, but prepare to use the horn if a stranger approaches your vehicle from either side.
